What are the three main steps of waterproofing the birch plywood after finishing? 27 Oct 2021

  • Painting: Painting is the most common and first step to waterproof the birch plywood. You can use water-based acrylic latex paint or epoxy paint for painting. Some modern paints have a combined primer and overcoat but it is usually more expensive so, if you want to save your money then you should buy them separately.
  • Epoxy Sealing: You can apply a layer of epoxy resin because this is generally clear and help the plywood to maintain its natural appearance. It also increases the hardness of the wood and improves overall durability.  Order 4x2 Birch Plywood
  • Applying Oils: You can change the appearance of birch plywood by applying the oils like linseed oil to provide your birch plywood a certain level of moisture resistance. However, if you want your plywood to remain unaffected then you can use the tung oil. These oils protect your birch plywood from the elements. But you have to apply several layers to it because only one layer is not enough to protect the plywood from the exposure of the elements.
